Duck in Boots was established in 2017 and begun as a small shop in a grade 2 listed building in the heart of Sudbury town centre.
We opened our doors with just 12 small businesses by our side and with a 10 day old baby and 3 year old in tow.
Sarah staffed the shop mostly on her own but was also joined by many of the artisan business owners regularly, which added to the creative experience customers could enjoy.
More than just a shop, our mission was to create a creative experience where customers could find the perfect gift no matter the occasion. By having artisans in the shop too, customers could have their personal requirements met and custom designs created just for them.
We had an artisan café with hand-crafted treats and our own specially blended, own brand coffee, real chocolate hot chocolate and fresh ice-cream milkshakes. This space doubled as our creative studio where children and grown-ups alike, could spend time painting pottery, making crafts or attend workshops.
Our workshops included Italian cooking with an expert chef, crochet, glass painting, gin experiences, quilting, cake artistry with an award winning baker and cake artist, needle felting, jewellery making, macramé and many more. These were available daytime and evening.
We closed our King Street location on the 30th March 2019 with now over 40 businesses within the walls. The decision was made to allow us to grow as we had a growing waiting list of new artisans wishing to join what we had created.
While we are in the process of expanding and securing a new larger property, Duck in Boots is now mobile and can be booked for creative workshops, parties and shopping experiences in locations across Suffolk, Essex and Hertfordshire.
